Environmental preliminary examination for the offshore windfarm “DanTysk”

GEO mbH (Society for Energy and Ecology) plans the erection of the wind farm “DanTysk'” in the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) at the Danish border in the German Bight. The planning area was chosen at a distance of more than 70 km from the island of Sylt. Not only is it outside the visibility area of land-based locations, it is also outside Natura 2000 conservation areas (fauna, flora and bird habitats). 80 wind energy converters are planned as a first stage with a total installed performance of 400 MW.

In the context of the approval procedure, OECOS researched information material about the surrounding marine environment and possible cause and effect relationships. Furthermore, all project-related effects of the wind farm which could cause impairments on protected assets and human interests during the construction and operation phases were summarized. The OECOS team advised GEO mbH on the coordination of the regular environmental impact assessment studies and summarized the individual examinations in general reports. Among others things, the combination of the EIA report and FFH compatibility study as well as the final report of the baseline studies were completed by OECOS.
