Environmental impact assessment for the offshore wind farm “SKY 2000”

1.SHOW-VG (society for the development and operation of offshore wind farms in the Federal State of Schleswig-Holstein) planned the erection of a wind farm in the Mecklenburg Bay (Baltic Sea) with a performance of 100 MW (50 wind energy converters at 2 MW each), approximately 19 km east of the seaside resort of Dahme and at an almost equal distance of the seaside resort of Kühlungsborn. OECOS GmbH contributed substantially in 1999 to the displacement of the planning area by more than 10 km seawards. At present the planning location is located outside of existing or planned protection areas.

The OECOS team coordinated all environmental examinations and summarized the individual results in an overall environmental impact assessment. The scoping conference, which started the formal planning procedures, took place in June 2001. The project was approved in 2003.
