Implementing environmental knowledge in the European-Turkmenian Advanced Training Center for Oil and Gas Engineering

In the context of an EU R&D Project (TEMPUS) for the construction of an advanced education centre for interdisciplinary professional training in the gas and mineral oil sector of Turkmenistan, Prof. Dr. Runge carries out advising tasks as an independant expert.

The setting-up of the European-Turkmenish Center for Further Education for interdisciplinary vocational training (ETWZ) offers the institutional and organisational basis to teach the necessary professional skills with an interdisciplinary approach of defined thematic circles. The ETWZ will cooperate closely with the educational institutions and the businesses involved and organise the exchange between the European members of the consortium and the Turkmenish cooperating Partners. Thus it is guaranteed that graduates from the Turkmenish university will gain permanent access to international know-how using this for national enterprises and at the same time allowing the university to develop itself towards internationalisation.

The project is based on the development of seminars for further qualification. The seminars offered will include the following topics, which are all related to the gas and oil industry and include environmental protection aspects: transportation and freight forwarding; economics and management; foreign languages for special purposes ; computer-based solutions and management methods. The sustainable success of the project and the institutional integration will only be guaranteed if the contents are adapted to the existing knowledge and practical experience in Turkmenistan. Therefore all contents will have to be communicated adequately and coherently with the experts of the institution. This exchange will be carried out after the initial phase via the Internet using email communication and video conferences. The explicit aim is the development of a modular system of further qualification based on EU standards which allows the students as well as the enterprises to acquire exactly the required know-how ready to fit their purposes.
